12 pupils (Years 7 & 8) in a small gym with excellent support staff. We did simple catching, ground fielding games and continuous cricket.  We also did a 20 min playground cricket session with Year 10 at break - much enthusiasm and goodwill.  Hope that we may be able to organise a trip for the children to Arundel later in the year.
16 Mar
*Special Needs Programme - Confederation of Cricket for the Disabled Finals at Lord's (John Barclay presented medals)

80 cricketers, some very disabled physically and mentally, took part in matches throughout the day amidst great enthusiasm and support. Taking part was the important thing.  All received medals.  Quite by chance, Sir Paul McCartney attended in the morning and chatted to all the participants.  It was a great day at Lord's for those not given a great hand in life.

19 Apr
Sussex Sharks V Hampshire Hawks U14 Blind Cricket
50 players, many of them totally blind, and their families and guide dogs spent a sunny day at Arundel.  They warmed up first and then played matches on two pitches - a senior and a junior game.  The mini-tournament was well organised with tremendous support from all teams of cricketers and great sportsmanship too.  Picnics were enjoyed in the sunshine and confidence grew all day.  This was a very special day for them and for us.

20 Apr

St Philip's School, Kensington
A sunny day enabled us to play a match outside with an incrediball.  Parents, staff and Henry Olonga all joined in.
24 Apr
CHARITY GOLF DAY on The Downs Course
at Goodwood by kind permission of The Earl of March

This was a magnificent occasion for the Foundation.  76 players took part in a Four-Ball Stableford Competition.  The sun shone and, thanks to the generosity of those who took part and other private donors, we raised in excess of £12,000.  This will make such a difference to the youngsters who will visit us at Arundel this year.

30 Apr

Special Needs Programme - Carew Manor School, Sutton
(9 children aged 13/14)
These youngsters had mental and physical problems and two were Downs Syndrome but they were bright-eyed and full of energy.  We had a very animated game of kwik cricket followed by a packed lunch on the terrace.  In the afternoon, we visited the castle, its gardens, keep and state rooms.  Rain forced us into the indoor school for some more cricket and at 4.00pm the children left for the seaside and tea.  A very full and happy day which seemed to engage the youngsters on a number of levels.

22 May
Special Needs Programme - Chailey Heritage School, nr Lewes
(7 children + 7 carers)  It was the first visit to Arundel for some years for Chailey Heritage.  The children were 9/10 yrs old; all were wheelchair users.  It was a beautiful day and we were able to walk round the ground, have lunch on the terrace and visit the Castle Gardens.  Despite being severely limited physically, all the children seemed to enjoy the day and smiled throughout.
