ACCF welcome Surrey Cricket Foundation’s Chance to Shine Lambeth street programme

Children from Lambeth in London enjoyed a special trip with us here at Arundel

At ACCF we are committed to providing enriching experiences for young people through our various programmes. We were delighted to continue our partnership with the Surrey Cricket Foundation and Chance to Shine, welcoming children from the London Borough of Lambeth as part of Chance to Shine’s Street Programme.

Chance to Shine Street uses cricket to increase aspiration, promote social cohesion and create opportunities in diverse communities by making cricket accessible to young people throughout the country.

The children took part in a range of activities including bushcraft, a trip through the historic Arundel Castle Gardens, and for many it was their chance to play cricket for the very first time.

Some of them were asked about what the trip meant to them and we think their responses perfectly encapsulate the impact that these trips have.

“When I first came here the thought of playing cricket made me nervous, but over time I have learnt to overcome it and not be as shy.”

“Arundel is a really calm and quiet place compared to the city and it just gives you that nice feeling when you’re out in the open.”

“My batting has improved, now I can hit fours and sixes when I couldn’t before!”

It was magnificent to see everyone having such a great time creating friendships, enjoying each others company, and making memories in the West Sussex sunshine!

Take a look at our short film and listen to the children themselves talk about their fabulous experiences: Chance to Shine Street Programme from Lambeth film
