Fun and friendship at ACCF cricket and forest school activity days with Family Support Work

Over 50 family groups have recently visited ACCF to take part in fun activity days for local children and families who are struggling with issues such as poverty, ill health, learning difficulties, bereavement, family break-up and domestic abuse.

Family Support Work (FSW) support vulnerable children and their families in Sussex by helping them to overcome their difficulties and prevent crisis. The charity provides emotional and practical support to parents/carers and their children age 0-18.  FSW offer a range of support services, children’s activities and days out for families living in Sussex and we are very proud to partner up with them to host a series of fantastic activity days at Arundel.  Through our partnership we are able to provide children and families from across Bognor, Arundel, Rustington and Worthing with a safe place in which to get active outdoors, try new things and to enjoy valuable time with family and friends in a beautiful countryside setting.

Many of the families who visited us have commented on how much they like the relaxed nature of the day. The children have really enjoyed taking part in cricket and other sports, trying out forest school activities and having a space in which to get together and make new friends. We’re delighted that everyone has had such a fun time and look forward to hosting further days this summer.

Jacqui Herrington, Family Support Practitioner for Bognor said:
“It’s been wonderful. The children love the freedom and doing all the different groups, it’s a really good activity day and the parents enjoy relaxing and talking to each other.”
